“The color purple combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red.” That sort of thinking made the colour an ideal reference for Purple Yoga and Purple Pedal, and an apt descriptor for entrepreneurial multi-studio founder and owner, Joe Vogt.
Joe was born and raised in Minnesota and says he grew up a “regular meat and potatoes kid playing a variety of team and individual sports.” His competitive drive would eventually take a back seat to the calm stability of yoga, which he began practicing in 1996. With the thorough approach of a driven athlete, he studied and trained with some of the best: Ganga White, Dharma Mittra, David Swenson, Johnny Kest, and others. Today, Joe finds himself both balanced and challenged by setting goals and achieving personal bests and as a Yogi, father and entrepreneur who dedicates himself wholeheartedly to his family and the communities he serves.
Joe opened his first yoga studio in Fullerton, CA in 2008, then launched his Purple Yoga brand with a second studio in Long Beach in 2010, eventually rebranding the original studio. After shifting locations, building purchases and renovations, the two stylish yoga studios now provide around 70 classes weekly a comprehensive online offering for students of all levels and disciplines.
In April, 2015, Joe launched Purple Pedal and 5 years later took on partner, Andrew Gubany, in the indoor cycling, private training and event venue. Together, they are the hosts with the most for what many describe as “a party on a bike.” Like Purple Yoga, Purple Pedal is a fun, safe community-oriented space for people to share another body/mind-changing modality and escape the cares of the world with a deep dive into a fit body and healthy spirit. All the passion of red and the stability of blue.
